• Grandson of Warrant Gunner Robert Rettgers who served on the USS SAUFLEY in WWII
• Graduate of the US Naval Academy
• Served as a submarine officer on the USS LOUISIANNA and as a Naval ROTC instructor at Miami University

The original goal this website was to determine if we could plot the patrol track of the SAUFLEY from the digitized war reports, but it has grown into a location where I can share some of my grandfather's photographs and everything else that I have found about the war service of the ship and its crew.
